I encourage you and others to read responses to commits. I often provide code reviews in such emails, and others do as well. Even if you did not author the commit in question, such reviews can help reinforce good coding practices. You may learn something you weren't aware of, or remember something you forgot. And it can help make you aware of the kinds of problems to look out for as you review submissions in the issue tracker.
