building gdb with newer clangs on 10.7 and Xcode <4.4

i noticed that when building with older xcodes (the ones that can build a lion kernel on lion), that the scripts for newer clangs in /opt/local/bin interfere with compiling gdb.

i assume this issue can arise in other situations too. has anyone thought to tackle the problem?

as it stands gdb needs to link to macports-libcxx on lion with a newer compiler, and i was hoping someone would have pushed a nice tidy solution for this.

Thanks,
Gagan
