weird freezing when installing openssl3 on 10.7

looks like a fresh install did the trick.

thanks fred i appreciate the quick response.

still unusual but who cares. “i should expect it” when i’m booting an unofficial kernel for evaluation purposes, and then expecting everything to be okay after re-installing the combo update.
