Just want to add my 2 cents to say that it's always sad when helpful people
are driven away from hobby projects due to these sorts of things.
I really like this project and have continuously been using it for over a
decade. I have contributed on occasion to macports (although very very very
rarely to base) and I know very little about the voodoo that goes into
keeping older systems alive. I have been following this controversy without
having much to say until now.
I have, more than once, been on the verge of rage-quitting other projects
because of bullshit such as Gagan pulled on this issue.
Ken: If you do read this, thank you for anything and everything that you
might have done to make my life easier, whether I realized it or not., and
good luck in whatever you decide to do next.
Gagan: I read through most (but not all) of the PR discussion and can
confidently say the following:
I don't think you mean ill, and you probably don't even realize it, but it
seems to me like you're very much in the wrong here.
Ken came off as paternalistic or perhaps a little condescending in some of
his replies, but he was nothing but civil until YOU began to act restless
and entitled. And even then, I'm not sure I saw any kind of insult in Ken's
replies other than perhaps some sarcasm.
Take it or (most likely) leave it, but I'm saying this as somebody who
spends a good portion of his $DAYJOB talking to patients with all sorts of
mental health issues: You could really do with working on your management
of frustration. Like I say, I'm sure you didn't really mean ill, but you
began the hostilities and I'm pretty sure that Ken hasn't said anything
even close to the kind of epithets you threw at him.
