Comment:

 gd2 doesn't seem to link with gettext as a library; it's just autoreconf
 that throws a fit if gettext isn't there. So it's a build dependency, not
 a library dependency. Added in r38666. Please re-open this ticket if that
 doesn't fix it. And thanks for reporting the problem.
