#17358: Upgrading subversion fails to stage

-------------------------------+--------------------------------------------
 Attempting to upgrade subversion:

 sudo port upgrade subversion
 --->  Staging readline into destroot
 Error: Target org.macports.destroot returned: no such file or directory
 Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1
 --->  Configuring subversion
 ---> Building subversion with target all
 --->  Staging subversion into destroot
 --->  Deactivating subversion 1.4.6_0
 --->  Installing subversion 1.5.4_0
 --->  Activating subversion 1.5.4_0
 Error: Target org.macports.activate returned: Image error:
 /opt/local/include/subversion-1/mod_authz_svn.h already exists and does
 not belong to a registered port. Unable to activate port subversion.

 I haven't been able to resolve the readline problem, although I have seen
 other tickets related to this problem. I am now unable to work on any of
 my software because of this problem. When I try to use the svn installed
 in /usr/local/bin (not from mac ports) I get the following problem:

 svn update
 dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libintl.3.dylib
   Referenced from: /usr/local/bin/svn
   Reason: image not found
 Trace/BPT trap

 But I don't see any packages that are related to libintl except some
 python version.

 I've done a selfupdate and a sync, and lots of problems have begun to crop
 up.
