 Thank you for your support. I'm glad that 10.4 gets it.

 Unfortunately I'm still lost. I've removed MacPorts completely as it is
 descibed in the FAQ. I've reinstalled it from scratch with +no_x11, -x11
 +quartz. The installation went fine. But gnucash has still the same
 problems. I'm on 10.4 on Intel not G4. Can this make a difference?

 Do I need to load  /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.dbus.plist ? After
 the installation it was disabled in the configuration file. I've enabled
 it but this didn't solve my problem.

 I've tried another user account as well as root but the problem is there
 as well.

 Is there a way to narrow down the problem?
