 There is not anything in LaunchDaemons.

 Unfortunately, it's a little different from above.  Deactivating and then
 activating - to get a 'clean' _5 - works.  In other words, I can not re-
 create the crashes.  So it seems the act of deactivating _5, activating
 _4, then reversing it did something.  Could something have been left over
 after the upgrade process to _5 that left things in a bad state?  And the
 activating/deactivating cleaned it up?

 At the moment, it works (even with the original _5 plist file).
