 libXm is provided by openmotif in your case (since that's installed &
 active).  Same versions installed here and xephem doesn't crash.  Do you
 have files in {{{~/.xephem}}}?  If you do, does it still crash when you
 move that aside?

 If it still crashes after moving that (or you don't have any files there
 at all), what is the output from
 {{{
 $ locale
 }}}
 My locale settings are all en_US.UTF-8.
