 I moved the two files , "XEphem and datatbl.txt" out of $/.xephem, but
 left the .xephem directory. Launched MacPorts X11, same form of failure
 reported.
 I then removed .xephem from the directory, and attempted a run under both
 Apples X11 and MacPorts X11, same form of failure reported.
 All my locale setting are also en_US.UTF-8 , with the exception of LC_ALL=
 which is blank.
