 I completed running the Weekly Maintenance cleanup. The '/Applications. .
 .' is indeed gone, however the path

 /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_lang_python26/work/destroot/Applications/MacPorts/Python
 2.6

 and

 /opt/local/var/macports/software/python26/2.6.4_0+darwin/Applications/MacPorts/Python
 2.6



 fills the terminal page.
