Ok, from your attachment we see the reason why gettext cannot activate: A
file it wants to install is already there:

/opt/local/lib/gettext/hostname already exists and does not belong to a
registered port.
}}}
Probably from your old PPC !DarwinPorts install. When migrating from e.g.
PPC to Intel, or when upgrading from one major OS to another, you must
uninstall and reinstall all ports. See the [wiki:Migration Migration] page
for more details. The uninstall instructions suggested there probably
won't work, since as you say you've already removed the parts of your old
install that kept track of what ports you had installed. So you should
follow the
[http://guide.macports.org/chunked/installing.macports.uninstalling.html
uninstall instructions in the Guide]. Then reinstall the current version
of MacPorts and the ports you want.
