I had the same problem like the OP. After having uninstalled Pallet and
installed the port version 1.1 the situation has changed a bit:
Pallet asks for Tcl path as known at startup, but it doesn't crash anymore
after having simply left the dialog box with the red window button. On my
file system, Tcl is only under /System/Library. Using this path in the
question dialog box leads to an error "You selected an invalid directory:
You have to use the directory where macports1.0 was installed by MacPorts.
Generally it should be /Library/Tcl". When I quit Pallet, a error window
pops up telling that Pallet was closed unexpectedly.
Creating a symbolic link to /System/Library/Tcl in /Library doesn't change
anything.
Maybe the reason is that Pallet was tested only with MacPorts 1.8, as
shown in the dialog box.
