 I realize this is a work in progress and it's free. I'm a Motion Graphics
 Designer for TV/Film and a Usability Designer with 20 years experience but
 I'm not a developer. I don't have a lot of free time to diddle around. So
 I'm going to start off by recommending.

 "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug (see below)

 I want to use MyPaint. The relationship between MacPorts and MyPaint has
 either never been explained or made obvious. I've got an error about xcode
 not installed and have not found info in my search here. So here we go
 down this usability nightmare rabbit hole.

 Can anyone send me a link to a YouTube install of MyPaint along with all
 this precursor stuff? I'm using a PowerMac 2005 not an Intel Mac. OS
 10.5.8. Or should I just buy Painter and write MyPaint off for now?

 Searches on YouTube were not helpful:

 I did watch a MyPaint Tour made by child. : ) Reminds me of years ago
 watching intros to Blender3D by Super3DBoy which ended in time wasting
 frustration and switching back to Cinema 4D. Is this where this is going?
 It seems the people that use this stuff have a network of users working at
 night in a big studio or agency with lots of equipment and expertise
 sitting idle before the deadline or the 11 O'clock news show goes on air.
 Been there and done that with Quantel. Is that how these tools get a user
 base?

 Here' my often used cut and paste recommendation for "Don't Make Me Think"

 I highly recommend reading this seminal introduction to the booming field
 of Usability Design. "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug is a short,
 quick, fun read (has cartoons in it) full of wry humor that explains how
 to make things easy to use.

 Here's a few subheads from the book "Don't Make Me Think, Chapter 9
 Usability Testing on 10 Cents a Day".

 - If you want a great site, you've got to test.

 - Testing one user early in the project is better than testing 50 near the
 end

 - The importance of recruiting representative users is overrated.

 - The point of testing is not to prove or disprove something. It's to
 inform your judgement.

 - Testing is a iterative process.

 - Nothing beats a live audience reaction.

 ...and this quote "the ideal number of users for each round of testing is
 three or four at most."

 This book is simple and GREAT! It even gives you a script of what to say
 when testing.
