 I can confirm this bug; I encountered it too. I can't find a related bug
 for upstream (https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Dist/Display.html?Name=Text-
 BibTeX) nor have I tested if this is present in p5.14-text-bibtex or other
 versions of text-bibtex.
