New description:
{{{
/var/root$ sudo port install gcc46
---> Computing dependencies for gcc46
---> Cleaning gcc46
/var/root$ gcc46
bash: gcc46: command not found
/var/root$ mp-gcc46
bash: mp-gcc46: command not found
}}}
I have also searched the whole drive and cant find the freaking executable
anywhere! this is the most obscure installation system I have worked with!

Comment:
To find out what files a port installs, use e.g.:
{{{
port contents gcc46
}}}
You should find that the name of the executable you are looking for is
"gcc-mp-4.6".
For further assistance with how to use MacPorts, you'll usually get
quicker help by writing to the macports-users mailing list.
