 No you didn't try to check the contents of the HTML file. You tried to
 decompress it as if it were a .tar.gz file. It is not a .tar.gz file. It
 is an HTML file. Do this:

 sudo mv pkg-config-0.2.6.tar.gz pkg-config-0.2.6.tar.gz.html
 open -a Safari pkg-config-0.2.6.tar.gz.html
 }}}

 Now what does it say in the browser?
