Comment:

 We really prefer to build from a file we can mirror rather than fetching
 from a VCS. In the case of (L)GPL'd software, it's especially important
 because we can't distribute binaries without also making the source
 available. Have a look at the github portgroup, which simplifies getting a
 tarball from github projects.
