 Okay - the problem is that boost 1.50.0 no longer supports gcc-4.2; 4.4 is
 the minimum. See the bottom of the
 [http://www.boost.org/users/history/version_1_49_0.html 1.49.0] versus
 [http://www.boost.org/users/history/version_1_50_0.html 1.50.0]
 documentation.

 I'm thinking of just making gcc-4.7 the required compiler for boost. Given
 the current problems with  with clang (#31525) I think that might be best.

 Suggestions, anyone?
