 Okay - attached is a patch that changes the compiler to `gcc47`. We can't
 use clang++ because any version prior to apple-4.0 (in preview right now)
 fail to correctly compile. We can't use any gcc prior to gcc-4.4.4 since
 they aren't supported. Might as well use the latest gcc.

 Patch attached. If I don't hear too many negative comments in the next few
 days, I'll commit.
