 Why does the build process of Groovy even depend on Gradle? Gradle uses a
 Groovy DSL. Wouldn't it be a case of chicken-or-the-egg?

 FWIW, the official build instructions at
 http://groovy.codehaus.org/Building+Groovy+from+Source indicate the use of
 Apache Ant, not Gradle.
