 I don't want to try out gcc4X variants if you already figured out that
 they don't work, at least not in the phase when I'm still fighting to get
 the most basic version to compile.

 What do you mean with "the fortran compiler should not be used"? I don't
 find any option that would allow me to disable compilation of Fortran
 code. I think that I need at least one fortran compiler, even if clang in
 taken for CC and gfortran-mp-whatever is taken for FC. Does leaving the
 {{{--with-f77}}} flag out really prevent Fortran code to compile?

 In the meantime I realised that removing {{{-std=legacy}}} flag prevents
 building errors, but still throws all kinds of warnings during
 compilation. I'll try with gfortran now unless I figure out a way to avoid
 compilation of Fortran code altogether. (The last thing I remember from
