 I would rather suggest to remove the octave-devel port completely and come
 up with "octave38" (or something similar). The port "octave" would be a
 dummy for "octave36". I never understood why a stable release ist denoted
 by "devel"... I made this remark already some time ago but I was not very
 successful. Hence I try again :)

 1) with your port file I run into the "Gets is a security hole"

 OSX-10-9-td4659114.html problem]. How did you solve it?
 2) I had to replace hdf5 by hdf5-18,
 3) any progress regarding JIT?
