Comment (by richard.t.lloyd@…):
I'm also having trouble with expat on Maverick with Xcode 5.0 Build
5A11386k and
[[BR]]
Apple LLVM version 5.0 (clang-500.1.74) (based on LLVM
3.3svn)[[BR]]Target: x86_64-apple-darwin13.0.0[[BR]]Thread model:
posix[[BR]]
[[BR]]
Screen output is:
'''[Users/richardlloyd] >''' install expat[[BR]]
''invalid syntax: should be "try body ?catch {type-list ?ecvar? ?msgvar?
?infovar?} body ...? ?finally body?"[[BR]]''
''Please see the log file for port expat for details:[[BR]]''
'' /opt/local/var/macports\[[BR]]''
''/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync\[[BR]]''
''.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_textproc_expat/expat/main.log[[BR]]''
''To report a bug, follow the instructions in the guide:
http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets
''Error: Processing of port expat failed[[BR]]''
'''[Users/richardlloyd] >'''[[BR]]
The logfile mentioned tells me:[[BR]]
''version:1 [[BR]]''
'':debug:archivefetch expat has no conflicts[[BR]]''
'':debug:main Executing org.macports.main (expat)[[BR]]''
'':debug:main changing euid/egid - current euid: 0 - current egid:
0[[BR]]''
'':debug:main egid changed to: 501[[BR]]''
'':debug:main euid changed to: 502[[BR]]''
'':info:archivefetch Warning: targets not executed for expat:
org.macports.activate org.macports.archivefetch org.macports.fetch
org.macports.checksum org.macports.extract org.macports.patch
org.macports.configure org.macports.build org.macports.destroot

:notice:archivefetch Please see the log file for port expat for

''/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.\[[BR]]''
''macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_textproc_expat/expat/main.log''
I understand the caveats re mac developer / non-disclosure / limited-
availability. I hit this problem while trying to install rvm in order to
limp past the dreaded '''certificate verify failed
(OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError)''' bug. Most surely bleeding edge technology
here...
