but I can't reproduce it here with any videos that I have tried using
either ffmpeg-devel or mplayer-devel -vo sdl configured as you mention in
#42906. Is this repeatable with any video that you try? Does mplayer-
devel work correctly if you use the corevideo driver?
mplayer-devel and mplayer hangs with the CoreVideo driver, displaying a
white screen with the correct video's aspect ratio and resolution, some
audio can be heard at the beginning though.
BTW, I'm testing this on OS X 10.9.2
