 Here is a small patch that allowed me bumping GNU coreutils from 8.22 to
 8.23. The local build failed until I added texinfo as build dependency,
 then it passed the install phas fine for what I can tell.

 This might not be the best way to fix, since it seems to be caused by the
 partial requirement of texinfo 5.2 (in macports, but not in OS X). Please
 have a look at the
 [[https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=192309|FreeBSD bug
 192309]] bug and how they fixed things.
