 I'm closing the ticket since ROOT builds and works on 10.6.

 Summary of other/upstream things that could be improved:
   * https://sft.its.cern.ch/jira/browse/ROOT-6393 – no linking to X11
 libraries
   * https://sft.its.cern.ch/jira/browse/ROOT-6394 – Build failure due to
 missing __thread on Mac OS X 10.6
   * https://sft.its.cern.ch/jira/browse/ROOT-6395 – Support for Cocoa on
 Mac OS X 10.6
   * hoping that `cmake/modules/SearchInstalledSoftware.cmake` will be
 fixed upstream (I didn't open a ticket – yet)
   * #44125 – cmake: default values of CMAKE_OSX_SYSROOT/DEPLOYMENT_TARGET
   * automatic check for `libc++`/`libstdc++` inconsistencies
