 All - I kept running into new issues/errors leading me to believe the
 entire OS was jacked up.  I ended up backing up my system and just wiping
 the entire OS.  I reinstalled Mavericks and all of my software from
 scratch.

 I no longer experience the issue.  Thanks for your help
