 It would've been nice to have a radar filed about this at the time.  We
 just got a radar today referencing this MacPorts ticket, but I cannot
 reproduce the problem on Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite.  I'm able
 to use /usr/bin/git to clone https://github.com/textmate/textmate.git just
 fine.  Is anyone seeing this issue with any other servers?
