 This "syntax error" patch in OpenMP for BSE haydock above seems like it is
 just because lines were long and the appropriate flag was not passed for
 the Fortran compilers.

 As far as I can tell, this current usage of the compilers and MPI
 portgroups does everything you had listed above as your goals.
