 After you edit the .bash_profile, you either need to `source` it or logout
 & log back in (e.g., restart X11.app or XQuartz.app).

 Right now, you could issue in the shell your first command (`export
 PATH="/opt/local/bin:$PATH"`) and see if that works for running GR Python
 scripts directly.
