 The upstream patch
 (https://rt.perl.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=126360#txn-1370987) looks
 good to me.  I'd suggest bringing it back to all supported perl versions
 and revbumping.

 The change will cause us to make use of more modern implementations (UNIX
 2008 compliant, 64bit inodes, etc) of some system functions rather than
 falling back on the older versions that existed in the ancient past.
