 In my experience it isn't trivial at all to fetch multi-module git repos
 using MacPorts "base". You'll probably need to roll your own fetch
 (extension). Maybe you can get some inspiration from my approach in my own
 qt5-creator-devel subport:
 https://github.com/RJVB/macstrop/blob/master/devel/qt5-creator/Portfile .
