 Thanks for the help in clarifying the issues, Jeremy.  I'm not going to
 anything further on this ticket until the toolchain issues are solved but
 please keep me in the loop.  Ken, I'll take you up on the offer for a ssh
 login account on one of your ppc machines.  Contact me directly with
 details.  It would be good to at least be able to verify issues and
 potential solutions on a ppc machine.  The ppc buildbot is backed up
 almost two weeks at this point so won't be much help for debugging for a
 while.
