 I tested all OSes from 10.6 upwards (I have a series of VMs).

 10.6 and 10.7 did not work out the box with the default compiler, I had to
 add the blacklist to force the use of Macports clang.

 Despite the git comment 10.8 upwards appears to work fine with the default
 compilers.
