 They also removed a lot of code like

 which just actively removes support for older platforms without any
 obvious reason to do so. I honestly thought that dropping support for
 older platforms was only on agenda for ROOT 6. Yes, we should make sure
 that ROOT 5 works on Sierra as a much higher priority than insisting in
 support for 10.4 (or 10.8 for that reason), but that doesn't mean we
 couldn't at least try to get things right for older platforms.

 On which OS versions did you test the compilation?
