 At the time more than a few moons ago... I don't think we had a cxx11-1.1
 option but educate me if that was the case. If I remember correctly, and
 it's been a while.... 10.8 support was needed for us and we only had one
 test machine (virtualised) to test it on. It wasn't easy to make all
 builds work....

 We can drop support of 10.8...
