 The QGIS3 port works great! Thanks very much!

 I was not able to get to the bottom of what was going on vis-a-vis the
 QGIS port and the troubles with CMake. Given the amount of time that it
 takes to build QGIS, I have to postpone further debugging for a little
 bit, as I need to work with QGIS for the next few weeks.

 I'll follow back up as soon as I can.
