Comment:

 They used to be white on a blue/purple background. Then the main web site
 stylesheet was changed. Maybe Simon wasn't aware that the news part of the
 site uses the same stylesheet, even though it's hosted separately at
 GitHub Pages.

 In [7b6a5c42a2e3478dea43640edeaa8e9e20f1371b/macports-www] the `color:
 white` directive was removed from (well, commented out in, but should have
 actually been removed from) the `h1, h2, h3` block but the corresponding
 `color` directives were not also removed from or changed in the `h3
 a:link`, `h3 a:visited` and `h3 a:hover` blocks (which are used by the
 news pages since the h3 headers there are links) but probably should have
 been.
