 OK; I'm all for avoiding hacks and having ports build correctly while a
 prior version is installed.

 Reviewing comment 15, I totally agree that using `DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH` is
 the way to go here. The `FALLBACK` won't work, since a library of the
 correct name is already installed. I use `DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH` regularly for
 this purpose (along with other such shell environment variables) to run a
 specific install of some port or something compiled from source but not
 yet installed (and/or when some other version is installed) -- this works
 like a charm!

 As Marcus was the one who made the change, can we get his opinion on
 reverting it?
