 Yes it probably would be worse than now.

 Having to install a whole c...load of unnecessary old LLVM and possibly
 Clang (and spending time for that monster to compile/build, as usually
 happens on my installations) is extremely annoying.

 I would prefer dependency on Xcode assembler instead. Especially since in
 most cases you have to have Xcode installed for Macports to be able to
 build ports anyway.
