 because cmake is just a build tool, it is usually possible to force
 macports to not need it built universal.

 if you tell us here how it is that macports is asking for it universal,
 (what you are doing exactly), we can probably tell you how to avoid
 needing it universal.

 Building it 64 bit is not usually of any benefit as not many PowerMacs
 have more than 4G of memory anyway, and even if they did, cmake would be
 unlikely to need that much.
