 I did. I suspect that's why it pulled the binaries OK now.

 Maybe it was the timing... I don't know.

 Let's see if upstream applies that patch, and if it fixes the problem.

 Also, they suggested that Macports consider moving Clang build from CMake
 to {{{ninja}}}. What do you think...?
