Comment:

 might as well leave this open I guess, for whoever else might come along
 later and want to know how to install this.

 how to actually fix this properly I can't say. The portfile has become too
 obtuse for me to suggest a PR.

 how to actually keep this portfile up-to-date with the compilers situation
 on macports is totally beyond me...
