 At the moment it neither compiles on arm nor on < 10.10
 * https://ports.macports.org/port/x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc/

 But we do have a working gcc 11:
 * https://ports.macports.org/port/gcc11/

 I'm not sure to which part of the changes you were referring. The
 requirement to use a C++11 capable compiler to build gcc?
 This should be solvable by properly tweaking the compiler selection.
