 Thanks for your reply.

 A quick overview:

 **bin dir**

 - v7 by default creates aliases to the new `magick` command for all v6
 commands (eg. `animate`, `convert` etc.)
 - v7 has some additional aliasses v6 does not have (eg. new `magick-
 script` alias links to `magick` binary)
 - the `*-config` commands are the same (`Magick++-config`, `MagickCore-
 config` and `MagickWand-config`)

 I have no suggestion how to logically handle this.

 **pkgconfig**

 Both versions create a versioned and an unversioned file. The content is
 the same within a version ("ImageMagick.pc" is the same as
 "ImageMagick-7.Q16.pc")

 Could be handled as you suggest in comment:19 by renaming the v7
 "ImageMagick.pc" to |ImageMagcik-7.pc" ?

 **man files**

 Both versions have broadly the same man filenames (eg. "animate.1",
 "compare.1", "Magick-config.1", etc.)

 Keeping these in separate directories might be the only solution?
