 Okay, so another piece to the puzzle: When `py-mkl` isn't installed,
 everything works properly.

 So this looks like a bug: `py-numpy` is opportunistically linking with
 `py-mkl`, when it's installed. At least, that sure looks like the problem.

 I'd love to hear a better explanation, though...
