 So gcc on Catalina, from MacPorts is not broken, in general I believe,
 unless recently broken.

 Hundreds or thousands of ports that require gcc to build are being
 successfully built by the buildbot all the time, eg

 https://ports.macports.org/port/octave/details/

 So we are trying to sort out why your system is apparently broken. It
 might turn out to be some new MacPorts issue, libgcc11 just was updated,
 but still not sure yet.
