 Reverting is not necessary. It looks like the issues are now checksum
 diffs, which is an old chestnut we have run into before.

 newer GCCs (11, and 12 which I am working on right now) have logic to turn
 this off in certain cases. Almost certainly they are 'false' positives, so
 whilst not ideal doing this where required is acceptable I think.
