 Wouldn't it then be easier to do:
 1. create v7 port in /opt/local/lib/ImageMagick-7/ etc.
 2. upgrade existing to v7
 3. Maybe sometime move current v6 to /opt/local/lib/ImageMagick-6/ etc.
 and fix any remaining ports that did not upgrade to v7?

 Then when v8 comes at least we have unique paths...

 But if [comment:66 kencu] is right and all dependent code will work with
 v7, a drop-in replacement of v7 over v6 in current location might just
 work for 99% saving everybody time?
